can greatly improve the overall safety and efficiency of your loading dock area.
The DOOR & DOCK
GUARD is designed to serve two purposes. The raised safety guard protects forklifts from dangers of the
"drop-zone" when the overhead door is open and also acts a pallet stop to guard overhead door panels
and tracks from regular impact damage when the door is closed.
Built to withstand forklift impact,
the guard has been tested to stop 10,000 lbs. rolling loads at speeds up to 4 MPH. When the highly visible
guard is in the upright position, the added ANSI approved yellow safety striping provides a visual warning
to the forklift operator to stay clear. Plus, the guard is mounted 22" from the face of the deck plate.
Why? In addition to protecting the overhead door and tracks when the door is closed, this position provides
an extra margin of safety from the "drop-zone," unlike protective barriers positioned right at the edge
of the dock.
The guard is automatically activated when the dock is in or returned to the cross-traffic
position and deactivated automatically during the dock cycle or when the dock is in use. A supervisor
key switch override with warning light, located on the dock leveler master panel, allows the dock attendant
to temporarily override the barrier for hand bombing cargo - a usual requirement when small delivery
vans are present. When the dock leveler is in use, the guard lies flat or flush with the deck surface.
This allows smooth, unobstructed flow of traffic during load transfers. Whether the dock leveler is servicing
trucks above or below level, the guard is out of the way. This is especially critical when tail or end
loading is required - a Blue Giant(r) advantage over other systems that prevent the forklift from lowering
pallets right at the edge of the dock onto the back of the tractor-trailer.

hydraulic I-beam dock leveler. This allows you to obtain all the benefits of the DOOR & DOCK GUARD
while selecting the right dock leveler for your operation. For added protection from the other side of
